This month our Walk ’n Work hike will take us on a tour of the northern reaches of Westwoods: past the Colonial Caves, through the Monuments and past Dinosaur Rock. We’ll be following the Green Rectangle trail to start, and then pick up the Yellow and White Circle trails, which travel the two best known north/south corridors of the property. The work part of our walk will be to inspect (and repair, where necessary) the blazing of both these trails … we received a recent trail report suggesting these trails are hard to follow, so we’ve decided to hike the route and see for ourselves. Please join us if you have your Saturday morning free. We’ll have everything that’s needed for any blaze repairs, but you should bring along a set of garden clippers for trimming any small branches you might find overhanging the trails. And of course, wear comfortable shoes, a warm coat, mittens and your Land Trust hat. We’ll meet at the ‘Upper’ Moose Hill Road entrance to Westwoods … that’s the pull-off on the west side of the road just south of Old Road. Hope to see you there! [est 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hours]

Rain or significant snow will usually cancel any of these work parties, so if you have questions about the schedule, please feel free to contact me [email protected] or Paul Proulx [email protected] on the morning of each event. We’ll also announce cancellations or schedule changes by email, so it’s a good idea to check your mail before you leave the house. Paul also carries his cell phone (203-687-7756) on these events, so if you’re late and want people to wait, give him a call.
