Watercolor Demo: Working with Values
Instructor: Sharon Schmiedel
Tuesday, June 23rd 11:30-12:30
Cost: Free, Registration Required
This Zoom demo will introduce you to watercolor and working with values. We will work from a photo with strong lights and darks. In watercolor, you use the white of the paper for your whites and vary the amount of water and pigment for a range of values. We’re going to play with watercolor and not worry about making masterpieces. You will need two colors: black plus a red or a brown; tubes are great, but pans are fine. A #10 or #12 round watercolor brush, watercolor paper or mixed media paper are great but good sketchbook paper will work, a cup of water, a palette or plastic plate, and a paper towel or two. Make sure you print out the photo (photo will be emailed to registered students) or have it on your screen for this session. This course is open to students of all levels; some drawing experience is helpful but not required.
