November 2, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Five hundred years ago, Martin Luther initiated a religious revolution that radically changed the Western World.
What do these changes have to do with us in the 21st century? How do they still affect us? What difference does it make to be aware of their significance? Can knowledge about events in some distant past make us more effective in shaping our own society and culture in the present? Join Carlos Eire, author of Reformations: The Early Modern World, 1450-1650, for this discussion about the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation. Books will be available for sale and signing.
Carlos Eire is T. L. Riggs Professor of History and Religious Studies, Yale University. He is the author of several scholarly books and two memoirs, including Waiting for Snow in Havana, for which he received the National Book Award. He lives in Guilford, CT.
