June 22, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Celebrate Pride Month! Join Matthew Brush and Parker Terrell for a talk that focuses on difference, diversity, and topics related to LGBTQIA identities and issues. The presentation will give a comprehensive overview of the differences between sex, gender, and sexual orientation as well as how these identities shape our worldviews and experiences. Also included will be a discussion of the experiences of transgender people in the US and internationally, along with a discussion of Matt and Parker’s own experiences as members of the
LGBTQIA community with open Q&A.

Parker Terrell is a graduate from UConn, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Community Studies with a focus in social justice advocacy and community building in 2015. He was a member of the UConn Rainbow Center’s S.O.G.I.E. group, working as a peer educator and talking openly about his experiences as a member of the LGBTQIA community.

Matthew Brush earned his Bachelor of Arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Human rights from UConn in May 2017. In his final semester he worked with the Connecticut Fair Housing Center, a non profit, to update the trainings they provide to housing providers regarding LGBTQIA+ individuals, specifically in how to better accommodate transgender people.
