Yale Science Diplomats: The Science of Human Extinction at Guilford Free Library
- This event has passed.
April 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join the Yale Science Diplomats for a series of talks on current scientific events. This dedicated group of graduate students enjoys making complex scientific topics easily understood by people of all ages.
This month, Science In the News asks, “How do you kill a species?” You could: kill each organism individually, destroy its environment, or change that species into something else entirely. In these talks, we discuss how humans are self-inflicting each of these scenarios. Hear about how globalization and urbanization are leading to the outbreak of more exotic viruses, why we might be in the midst of the 6th mass extinction, how we could engineer ourselves into something non-human, and what we can do about each of them to save ourselves.
